Gurkha Shaggy is not Slouchy

Gurkha Dominican Vintage ShaggyRecently I have smoked a few cigars that have an unusual foot.  Sometimes they have been tapered and on other occasions there has been extra wrapper added to give you a singular taste of that tobacco.  This cigar has an unfinished foot.  The wrapper just stops about half an inch short of the end of the cigar.  That makes it really easy to light without giving it any bad taste.
This cigar is a Dominican puro, meaning that all of the tobacco comes from a single country.  The wrapper is aged eight years while the binder and filler are aged six.  It is well made and burned evenly throughout.
I found the first inch or so to be peppery and rich.  As it continued to smoke the flavors mellowed a bit but remained fairly consistent.  The final third of the cigar added some rich earthy flavors almost chocolaty.
The cigar smoked for a little over an hour and never turned hot or bitter.  The taste was smooth all the way through.
Frankly, I’m not sure what the shaggy foot added to the taste and flavor, but it certainly didn’t detract.   I enjoyed this cigar and would definitely smoke another.  At around $9. it is not an everyday cigar.
Overall, certainly a thumbs up.
