Hugo Cassar Corona

The Ventura Cigar Company is an extension of Kretek International, a private company noted for its clove cigarettes and chaired by Hugh Cassar. Kretek is also known for Djeep lighters and other products.

This cigar, named after Cassar, upon first appearance is not as smooth as you might hope, but this doesn’t seem to affect the draw.  Given that this is a budget cigar its overall appearance is good.  While the cigar lit easily and drew well, it lost shape during last 1/3 of smoke.  Ring needed to keep shape-loose tobacco in place.

The flavor of the cigar was consistent.   The stick has a mild taste; clean, easy draw with no after taste.

At $2.50,  this is a good budget smoke for 30 minute ride to golf course or predinner.   If you are looking for a low cost, mild cigar with no pretensions, this one fits the bill.
