Artesanos de Obrlisco
I have lots of favorite cigars, many of them found as gifts. But this one was picked because of its shape and the shape of its fancy box. It was only later that I learned that the shape of the cigar was a tribute to the Heroes of the Restoration in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Upon first inspection this is a beautiful cigar. Its tapering shape is elegant and inviting. In addition to the traditional La Gloria band there was an Artesanos foot band. It has a nice veiny wrapper and a satiny feel. It had an earthy aroma that was almost floral.
Easy to light the draw was open and consistent. Even in the first inch there was no harsh flavor. It had a nice mellow almost chocolate taste. An otherwise perfect construction was marred by a bunched double vein at the center of the cigar but that didn’t affect the taste or the burn. As I smoked the flavors became more nuanced, with a touch of nuttiness on the front of the palette.
I couldn’t get enough of this cigar. It never tasted It is bitter or hot. I had just a hint of spice in the last few puffs, but that only served to make the rich taste linger.
It is hard to believe that a smoke this good can be had for just around $7. That means it is not only a great cigar but a wonderful value. I can’t imagine any humidor not having some of these babies all the time.
