Cordoba & Morales 19th Hole
I like good cigar stories. Some are tall tales and some are success stories. In this case a few cigar people got together and started a brand, Cordoba & Morales. You can just see their enthusiasm for the business and cigars in general by looking at their photo to the right. Since 2011, they have been making cigars, good cigars. As of now, they have three lines out, each with a different flavor profile. I’m hoping to try each one over the next month of so.
When you first look at the 19th hole, you’ll will enjoy the sight of a nice rich oily, chocolate brown maduro. The cigar feels firm to the touch. Mine clipped without a problem and lit easily.
The cigar burned evenly throughout the entire stick. Inattention on my part resulted in a slow burn, but it remained cooled even when I puffed furiously to keep the cigar lit. The ash was a dark grey and grew nicely.
Looking at the cigar I thought of a chocolate bar and surprisingly, it tasted like that as well. After the initial burn period, the cigar mellowed into a creamy, rich mocha flavor. As it progressed there was a nutmeg flavor that gave a nice counterbalance to the sweetness. Towards the end, I was quite happy with the spice of the nutmeg since it almost tasted caramelly to me. All in all the flavor profile was a cross between sweet and a rich edge. I really like the taste of this stick.
At $7.+ this is a reasonable price to pay for a nice smoke. The cigar is also available in other sizes that are priced somewhat similarly and you may get a little more smoke for your dollars. Regardless, I would definitely smoke this again and add it to my humidor with pleasure.
