Gurkha Ghost Amazing

Gurkha GhostWhat to say about a ghost?  They are so elusive that it’s hard to describe.  But this ghost is an amazing cigar.  From our friends at Gurkha and made by Abe Flores, the Gurkha Ghost is special. And it’s special in every way.  From the band, a first-of-its kind in the industry holographic print, to the fine black box in which they are packed these cigars were a standout for me.

I have smoke two of these, the first at the Gurkha booth at the IPCPR show in Orlando last weekend and the second just the other night.  The first led me to want to smoke this when I wasn’t sampling lots of sticks.  The second reinforced my feeling that it was truly a great cigar.

When you first look at the cigar you notice the packaging.  The black box, the special band give way to a beautiful looking dark maduro wrapper from Brazil.  The stick has a supple feel in your hand with an oily touch.  The cigar clipped easily and lit without problem.

This is a well constructed cigar.  It burned evenly despite not paying much attention.  The edge was crisp and it held a nice gray, speckled ash.  The draw on this cigar was wonderful.  Often times with new cigars the draw is tight but this was nice and easy.

Medium bodied cigars fall into a huge area of tastes.  This cigar does not overpower but has lots of flavor.  Throughout the entire cigar a nice cinnamon spice is present.  It’s not too strong but always there.  As I moved into the second third of the stick it developed a sweetness.  It was a rich dark chocolate flavor with even a hint of ruby port.  Richness is the word that springs to mind.  As the cigar finished I had a lingering taste of Mexican chocolate, chocolate that has cinnamon in it.  Wow.

When this cigar hits the retail shelves in a month or so, it will have a price in the $7 range depending on the size.  At that price it will be a worth addition to your humidor as a nice evening smoke.  You’ll enjoy and savor the stick for over an hour and find that you want more.  I expect to keep this cigar in my regular rotation.
