Gurkha Wicked Indie Historic Name-Good Cigar
The Gurkha Wicked Indie is a new release from Gurkha. It is the first release under the newly formed East India Trading Company, a brand whose history dates back to the British Crown and the year 1600. It was recently reformed to present these cigars to the public. The heritage of East India Trading Company is very much in keeping with the brand of Gurkha Cigars.
This new line, Wicked Indie, is comprised of 4 different sizes, all relatively large shapes. I smoked the Robusto and enjoyed it.
When I first picked up the cigar I notice a nice band in an unusual position. The band of this cigar is around the foot – interesting. Upon inspection it presents very well with a rich dark brown oily wrapper that was supple to the touch. The cigar lit easily and drew well. Initially it had a nice rich full flavor with spice and nuts. As it burned, very cool, I might add, the spiciness faded into the background to be replaced by a chocolately flavor with hints of nutmeg and maybe allspice.
As I continued to smoke the cigar held a nice ash and a tight edge. I thought this cigar was going to be harsher than it was. It provided a beautiful after dinner fullness, richness, and heaviness without the bitter peppery sharpness that others use to mask inferior quality. At less than $7. per stick, this cigar provides nice value as you might pay $10 – $12 to get something of similar quality.
When you are looking for a nice full after dinner cigar to enjoy, I’d reach for a Wicked Indie.
