San Lotano Habano
AJ Fernandez had made many of the cigars that are in my humidor. He just makes them for others. So, it’s nice to have one that he has seen fit to put his own lable on.
When you first look at the San Lotano, it shows a nice medium brown with a nice tight hand. it lights easily after a quick clip. At first it produces limited smoke probably because of a tight draw. Though I found the cigar much easier to draw as I continued to smoke, it was never a problem.
The flavor of this cigar is woodsy with a cedar taste at first. As it progresses I get a little sweetness, perhaps from the Brazilian wrapper. The taste stays consistent throughout and has notes of leather a tiny bit of spice to go with the earthy cedar tones. This isn’t a powerhouse but rather a nice medium bodied ‘lunch’ smoke. Sometimes powerful cigars are not as complex as medium bodied smokes and this is a good example. I find this cigar to be much more interesting flavor wise than a heavy full bodied one note stick.
This stick is well made. As I previously mentioned it is rolled tight. But, it draws just fine. If anything it burns a little slowly allowing you to enjoy it for an extra few minutes.
At around $6.00 this is nicely priced smoke. To me the wheelhouse for price is between $4.50 and 6.75 for an every day smoke. For the money you get a nicely flavored interesting, relatively complex cigar that will provide an enjoyable hour day after day.
