Swag Lavish Indeed

What can I say?  I am passionate about cigars.  They have been a part of the most important and joyous days of my life and they have provided a moment of solace and reflection during tough times.  But, most days they are just cigars.  And on those days, I find that I am just looking for a pleasant respite from the day with my smoke.  Just because a cigar is not monumental does not mean it isn’t enjoyable.

Last night I found the Swag Lavish in my humidor.  It came from an event where there far too many cigars to remember.  So, without anticipation I removed the wrapper and foot band.  The foot band informed me that I was about to smoke a Dominican puro.  So, I expected a nice but mild cigar.

Upon first blush, this cigar looked very nice.  Light but noticeable veins and a rich deep color.  The aroma was pleasant and woody.  It seemed well constructed an lit easily.  No problems with the draw, the first flavors were of a single note and had more strenght that expected.  I would rate this cigar as a lunch cigar or medium bodied.  The flavors were woody with a hint of leather.

After about twenty minutes the cigar was burning smoothly and held a sharp edge.  The flavor never really changed through the entire smoke.  At the 35 minute mark, I removed the band, and continued smoking for another ten minutes.  The stick never heated up and was pleasant and consistent until the end.

I found this to be a very enjoyable everyday smoke.  There are weekend cigars and weekday cigars.  I would rate this as a very nice weekday cigar.  It’s hard to find any decent cigar for around five dollars and this one is in that price range at $5.50.  That makes it a good value.
