90 Miles

90 MilesWhen you meet a lot of cigar makers all at one time, memories are bound to be blurred.  And the sticks, unless they stand out in some way sort of blend together.  Spending  a weekend with more cigars than you can imagine, I was overwhelmed.  And some of the cigars were passed by or forgotten.  I guess, as an avid cigar smoker, I could easily smoke a different cigar every day and still not smoke all that was out there to try.  So how do you chose?  Hopefully, here at CigarMayven.com we can help.  Our reviews are designed to help you chose what will be of greatest interest to you.  So, how do we chose?  The same way.  We rely on the suggestions of friends, acquaintances, and other knowledgeable cigar guys.  I learned about 90 Miles from a cigar guy who lives nearby.  We run into each other occasionally and he recently told me I had to check this out.

When you first look at the 90 Miles you notice the 2 nice bands and a reddish medium brown wrapper.  The cigar clipped easily and the cold draw was a bit open.  It lit without problem. In general a nice looking and feeling cigar.  This stick comes in only two sizes, the Gordito that I smoked, and a Corona Gorda at 6 x 56.  Both will provide a nice hour plus of smoking.

I was afraid after an very open cold draw that the cigar was not well made and would burn very hot.  That was definitely not the case.  This cigar is well constructed.  It held a very crisp edge burning perfectly.  The ash slowly grew to very long proportions.  And, despite a heated political debate (it is convention time), did not need to be relit.

Flavor was consistent through the entire smoke.  It had a spicy undertone with a short creamy finish.  There was a sweetness from the wrapper that balanced the spice.  As the cigar smoked, flavors did not change much at all.  In some ways that’s disappointing, but, they were nice flavors right to the end.

At just over $5 per stick, these cigars are a good value.  They will provide a nice evening smoke that you can enjoy alone or with friends.  Smokers who like something a little bit more than mild will enjoy these sticks.
