Oliveros King Havana Maduro
It’s always nice to meet nice people in the cigar business. And even more so when they are successful. Oliveros and SWAG are a cigar company with many years of success behind and ahead of them. Some months ago I had the pleasure to meet with Fabian, their director of Marketing at his offices in North Miami. He took the time to tell me his story and show em the line of cigars. They are doing some great things and have more interesting things scheduled for the future.
I smoked the King Havano in a large size. It was a gigantic 6 x 60 and it seemed to be a little to much to handle. It punched without a problem and lit easily. The cigar had a beautiful deep aroma but was lumpy to the feel. On the plus side it was a good looking oily dark cigar.
The draw on my cigar was open and I had no problem producing lots of nice smoke. The ash was a grey black and held nicely at first and then progressively shorter. Unfortunately, the cigar needed to be touched up to keep it burning evenly. After a few retouches, it evened out and was ok from the halfway point to the end.
The cigar had an earthy taste with notes of leather through the first third. As I smoked along the pepper taste intensified. It was a heavy smoke, but the flavor wasn’t overwhelming. Sometimes I have a cigar that I call a full bodied cigar where the flavor is not as sharp, but rather strong. This cigar is like that. It has a heavy strong flavor, finishing with pepper and spice. But it is not sharp. For most people this would be a full bodied smoke but I think of it as a little milder than that.
At around $9. it is not an inexpensive stick. But there is a lot of it. This is a large cigar that could easily last you over an hour and a half of smoking pleasure. Enjoy!
