Fonseca Classic – Really
Every once in a while you smoke a really good cigar. And sometimes you are not surprised. Fonseca is an old time brand that has been making cigars for years. The originals were made in Cuba, and many still are. Our cigar is made int he Dominican Republic with all the care and expertise of those from Cuba.
When you first look at this cigar you’ll find a beautiful stick. It is a glorious golden brown, resplendent with veins and a nice pleasant aroma. It looks like a good cigar. I punched and lit it without problem.
Once of the ways you tell about the construction of a cigar is by how evenly it burns. This stick was as close to perfect as possible. It also kept a nice long ash. I don’t think I dropped the ash for well over 2 1/2 inches. I was tempted to enter a longest ash contest.
This is a mild old fashioned style cigar. It starts out tasting earthy and develops a creamy taste. As the cigar moved to the middle third the creaminess continued with a hint of nutmeg. In the final third the taste got a little bit more aggressive with a sort of cinnamon and nutmeg flavor. Overall, it is a wonderful smoke.
At a little more than $6 for such a great smoke, this stick is a steal. I can’t imagine any humidor without these cigars.
