Honduras Caribbean Tobacco Claro
Established in 2005, the Honduras Caribbean Tobacco Company has been making cigars for eight years. The first time that I heard fo them was at last years tobacco show. They had a small booth and I stopped by for a chat. Nice people with a couple of lines of cigars. This is my first try of any of their sticks. And, this may the first cigar where I ran out of space on my review notes sheet. Surprisingly, when I looked at the notes they were all sort of bland, like the cigar.
At first look it is a pleasant looking stick. A nice light brown Connecticut seed wrapper gives it a pleasing color. It was firmly packed. The cigar punched without a problem and lit easily.
The construction was unremarkable. The draw was open. The ash was good but didn’t hold well, dropping after less than an inch. And it wasn’t tight. Nevertheless, the cigar smoked without a problem.
The flavors of this stick were mil and I would consider it a ‘breakfast’ smoke. IT had cedar and leather notes with some nuttiness which dissipated shortly after appearance. The flavors were otherwise unchanged throughout the smoke. This made for a boring stick, but if you were new to cigars, I think you might enjoy it.
At around $5 per stick the price is right, but the cigar, while ok, is nothing special. If you are looking for a reasonably priced smoke as a beginning cigar smoker or someone who enjoys a very mild stick, this will suit your needs.
