J&D Allure

J&D Cigars AllureI’m sure I met the cigar maker of J&D Cigars last year at the industry trade show.  I just don’t remember.  There were so many people to meet and so many cigars to taste.  It was overwhelming.  Thankfully, the cigars made by J&D Cigars are definitely memorable.  I have previously reviewed the Temptation, and was as delighted with that as I am with this cigar.  I am hoping to get more of these to review, otherwise I might have to beg, borrow, or steal to get some.

The Allure line comes in a torpedo shaped 6” x 52 beautiful looking package.  It is firm to the touch, very oily and with a nice woody nose.  I really liked the look of the cigar and anticipated a nice smoke.  The cigar cut and lit easily.

The construction of the cigar was a bit closed at first, requiring more effort on the draw that I had hoped for, but, as the cigar smoked it opened up and smoked more smoothly.  The ash held well and burned evenly until the very end of the cigar.

The first flavors of the cigar were sweet, but not in a cloying way.  As the cigar progressed I got a nuttiness balanced with earthy tones with the sweetness receding.  In the final third the spice picked up but never became more than a hint of spiciness.  This is a nice light medium bodied or ‘lunch’ cigar.  It is great for someone who wants just a little bit of spice in their smoke.  Perhaps a newer smoker looking to take a step up towards more a bit more full flavor.

As far as value is concerned the Allure scores very well.  It is essentially a bundle cigar coming in at around $3.00 per stick.  I would pay at least twice that price and consider this good value.  Anyone who enjoys a milder cigar should have some of these in their humidor.  If you don’t care for this milder smoke, keep some on and anyway to satisfy those guest who might like to try a nice cigar.
