Pedro Martin Ruby- Precious
When Maria Martin left Comacho to go back to her own family business it was a signal that people would now begin to realize how good the Pedro Martin Family cigars were. Her father knew how to make cigars and she knows how to sell them. This is the second of the Martin Family cigars that I have smoked and I have been happy with both. This one had a particularly interesting flavor profile.
When I first looked at this stick I saw a nice torpedo with a triple cap. It was oily but a bit splochy. The cigar clipped without problem and lit easily.
The dark gray ash on this baby held well and burnt evenly indicating a nice construction. The draw was open and easy.
AT the outset this cigar was especially flavorful. I got hints of citrus and other fruits that were the harbinger of sweetness that ran through the entire first half of this cigar. the second third was primarily fruity. As the cigar moved into the home stretch I got a little bit of spice turning up as nutmeg and cinnamon notes. It’s hard for me to say this is a medium cigar since there really is no heaviness to it. But, I think it is more interesting than a mild cigar. So let’s call it a medium bodied cigar that I’d smoke before rather than after lunch. Overall, as I was finishing up this cigar someone asked what I thought of it. “Nice!’, I remarked. And I meant it.
AT just around $6. per stick this is a nice price point for a figurado. If you are looking for a mild to medium interesting fruity smoke this is worthy of your humidor.
