C&C Connecticut Wrapper

C&C Cigars are made by one of the founders of Cusano cigars, and he has struck gold for a second time.  They are making cigars in three different blends, each exciting in its own right.  All of their cigars are being well received and  have made many Top 25 lists.  Over the past few months I have had several guests for whom I have opened the CigarMayven.com humidor.  I always ask what they’d like, and if they don’t have a preference, then ask what kinds of cigars they might enjoy.  I have had many people who I would consider casual smokers ask for C&C cigars.  When smoking the cigar for this review, one of my regular reviewers was smoking the same stick.  Our thoughts were very similar.

When I first inspected my cigar I noticed that it had a relatively flat top.  It looked good to me.  Doug Pope, another of our reviewers while enjoying the appearance of his stick found it to be rounded.  We both punched our cigars and lit them without problem.

The draw was open and clean.  The cigar was well constructed.  It burned cool and had an even tight edge.  The medium grey ash held quite nicely.  We were talking about several things and weren’t paying a lot of attention to the cigars, yet they needed no attention to remain lit and burning smoothly.

The flavor of the cigar is relatively mild with a little bit of spice.  There was no discernible aftertaste.  I got an initial blast of spice which quickly mellowed into grass and straw notes.  As the smoke moved to its mid point I was still tasting the grassy straw flavors.  As we got to the end of the cigar there were notes of pepper and spice.  Although I felt this cigar was mild I would rate it as a medium bodied or ‘lunch’ cigar because of the spice.  But, I’m sure even newer smokers would really like it as it could serve as a mild introduction to something stronger.

At around $4 per stick this is a great value.  It is not often that you can find fifty minutes of smoking pleasure for less.  No question this cigar belongs in your humidor.
