Rocky Patel Vintage 92
Rocky Patel makes a nice cigar. And, it’s likely a cigar that everyone has heard of. Rocky entered the industry a number of years ago and made a big splash by focusing on marketing. Marketing won’t work in the long run unless you have a product to back it up. And Rocky always does. It’s also nice that within the Rocky Patel family of cigars you can find something for almost every taste.
The cigar for today is a dark long stick in a classic shape. The churchill is a very traditional shape and this is a traditional cigar both in look and feel. My cigar punched and lit without a problem and produced a nice volume of smoke.
The maduro smoke was well built. It has an easy open draw and burned evenly. The ash was consistent but not long when I first smoked but quite nice in my second cigar. The edge was even and there was no aftertaste. The cigar burned cool. Not surprising that this cigar is well made but definitely a plus.
This stick is a medium bodied or ‘lunch’ cigar. When you light up it has flavors reminding you of leather and a hint of cedar. As it progresses there is a little sweetness probably from the wrapper but again the flavor is predominantly leather. Hints of pepper are to be found in the final third of the cigar.
I liked everything about this cigar except the price. At over $9.00 I think there is better value available to the smoker. But, that shouldn’t let you think that this isn’t a good cigar. It is. Anything by Rocky is going to give you a nice consistent smoke and this is no exception.
