AKA Solace – A Nice Mild Smoke

What can you say about a company whose name stands for American Kick Ass?  These are serious guys are are pro United States, supporting all things American.  Hoooa!!!  And with all of their enthusiasm they make a nice cigar. The company, based out of Texas, was started about three years ago and they have done it right by sourcing theri tobacco from real experts.  The blend comes from Kelner and Eiroa, two giants in the industry.  Henke Kelner makes Davidoff and Christain Eiroa created the Camacho line.  Good lineage indeed.

Today’s cigar presents very well.  A beautiful golden brown Ecudoran Connecticut wrapper surrounds this stick.  I punched and lit the cigar without any problem.

This is a well build cigar.  It burns evenly throughout the entire smoke.  Mine developed a long light gray ash that held impressively for over two inches.  The draw was open and the edge tight.

I am not generally a fan of mild or ‘breakfast’ cigars such as this, but the flavors were nice and there was some flavor complexity.  Often times in mild cigars, the taste is just one note.  Here there was coffee and cream at the start.  A nice mellow creaminess created just that pleasant flavor of early morning in my mouth.  A hint of chocolate became evident as the cigar moved to the second third.  Give me some nuts and I’d think that I was having Nutella with my breakfast drink.  As we got to the finish, I tasted a little bit of nutmeg, which gave a nice finishing bite to the smoke.  The cigar burned cool and there was no bitter aftertaste.

When it comes to value, a little less than $9 is a lot to spend for an everyday smoke, but this is made in the USA.  Are you willing to pay that premium?  The cigar in every way provided the peace of its namesake and the solce of its brand.  I’m looking forward to another any time I have to smoke early in the day.
