Miro – As Good as the Artist

Miro CigarA few weeks ago, I got a package of sticks in the mail from a distributor inviting me to review three new smokes.  They all looked good and I chose the Miro first.  Being in the fine art business for years, it is a name that I relate to.  Miro was a 20th century master, creating abstracts and working in vibrant colors.  His art influenced a generation of artists.  This cigar had a nice look and I chose to smoke it first.

When you first look at the cigar it looks like a nice dark brown beauty.  However the feel was uneven and there was a slight gap in the foot of the cigar.  Regardless, it punched and lit easily.

The cigar was built all right.  The draw was open and the ash was nice.  It held well as a speckled gray color.  However, the cigar burn was uneven and not tight.

Flavor, was interesting.  The cigar burned cool and mild.  At first I got hints of coffee.  As the smoke progressed I was getting vanilla and maybe some caramel to go with my coffee.  Finally at the end, I got a little bit of spiciness, much like nutmeg.  The maker thinks of this as a more full bodied cigar but I smoked two of them and found them to be interesting, mild or ‘breakfast’ cigars both times.  That goes to the point that different people have different tastes. Perhaps the thing I liked best about this stick is that it was flavorful.  Many of the milder cigars that I smoke are very singular in taste.  This was complex and interesting.

As to the value these sticks can be bought in quantity at very good prices.  I think the larger shapes would give longer smoking time for less dollars, but all should make a nice cigar for anyone who likes a more mellow smoke.  If you are a serious smoker and need something in the humidor for friends who may not share your palette, this will be a good choice.
