Loose Canon 1206 – Right on Target
From the same guys who brought us the well regarded C&C Corojo, we now get the Loose Canon. This is a box pressed Sumatran available in 5 sizes and packed in boxes of twenty. I had the opportunity to talk to these guys at the recent trade show and they were overwhelmed by the success of last year’s release. But, having put that aside they were very interested in establishing themselves as real players by bringing another well made cigar to the market. They have succeeded.
Today’s cigar is the Loose Canon 1206 in the Robusto size of 5 x 50. This was a nice looking cigar. The loose box press gave it a hint of sophistication and the simple band was not pretentious. I punched and lit the stick without problem. The feel of the cigar was silky and nice.
This is a well made cigar. It burned evenly and held a tight edge. It produced lots of smoke and burned very cool. There was very little after taste. During the entire smoke I kept thinking that it was easy to smoke.
Flavors were the only real draw back. And they were just fine. But, unremarkable. I thought that there was little change in flavor through the smoke. It started out with a grassy or earth taste and that continue through the first half of the cigar. As I got past the mid point there was some mild spice but still an earthy flavor was predominant. I enjoyed the flavor and really liked this as a cigar.
At a list price of about $6.50 this is just above what I would want to pay for an everyday cigar. But, even in the bricks and mortar shops this cigar will be available at an aggressive box price bringing it into a nice value everyday stick. I would love to have a box of these great sticks in my humidor.
