Oliva Serie G Figurado a Well Made Cigar at a Great Price

Let me come clean, this is a cigar that I have been smoking since its release a few years ago.  My humidor is never without the.  This is also a cigar that I will give to guests who are casual cigar smokers.  I have yet to have a guest not like this stick.  As for me, this review is easy to write.

When you first look at the cigar you notice its unusual shape.  It is pointed at the head like a pyramid or belicoso and it taper up in size towards the foot.  The foot rounds to a small cylindrical protrusion in the shape of a nipple.  This shape is traditionally called a Salomon and it is a very old shape that Oliva has brought back.  The cigar is also box pressed, meaning that its sides are squared off as the press in which it was place after rolling has straight rather than rounded sides.  This all makes it an interesting stick.

The Cameroon wrapper on this cigar was a nice light brown color almost the shade of coffee with milk.  It lit easily and drew well.  When you light this cigar you are only lighting the tip and it takes a few minutes for the burn to round out to the whole cigar.  Give the stick a few minutes before thinking about flavor.

The flavors are predominantly cedar and I think a little tarragon or almost a bitter sweet note.  Definitely not sweet in the sense of candy but rather a mellow lack of harshness.  The cigar always burs cool throughout.  As I draw on the cigar about halfway in I also get a round creaminess that for me defines this as a mild cigar.

At less than $5.00 per cigar, I think it is a great value, inexpensive for its size and uniqueness.  It’s not often that you can get an unusual cigar, well constructed and with good flavor for this price so I rate it highly.  But, then again, I did mention that this si one of my regular smokes.
