Nestor Miranda Art Deco – A Coffee Break with a Punch
Recently I have found that I am smoking a more full bodied cigar in the afternoon and something a little bit lighter at night. So, this evening I chose the Nestor Miranda Collection Art Deco. It was perhaps reminiscent of a more full bodied cigar with a nice kick but lots of flavor.
When I first looked at the stick it presented well. I was smoking the ‘Coffee Break’ a short robusto with a beautiful medium dark wrapper. The band is simple by comparison to some of the other ornate offerings but resplendent with art deco turquoise and silver. I punched and lit the cigar easily and it drew well with lots of heavy smoke.
First flavor was peppery which continued as an undertone through the entire stick. After the initial pepper, I got a cocoa flavor which about halfway through turned to a taste similar to a chocolate burnt caramel taste.
This cigar is made with a complex construction that shows well in its taste. A double binder, a leaf from Nicaragua and a leaf from the Dominican, is used to enclose tobacco from both countries. The corojo wrapper contributes to the leathery and toothsome taste as well.
At $7.00 this is a little more than I might want to spend for a short smoke, but the flavors are worth the ticket. Definitely, a cigar to have and to smoke.
