Cheap Bastard – A Soon To Be Famous Cigar

Cheap BastardIt’s a tough life, the job of a cigar reviewer.  You get to smoke cigars, sometimes really good ones.  And, of course, you meet wonderful people.  Sometimes, you get to smoke some not good cigars.  And, once in a while you get to smoke a surprising cigar.

Last night I reached into the humidor and picked up what I thought was a, well — something else.  And what I got was a Cheap Bastard Sumatra.  What a surprise!  This cigar sells for under 2 bucks, and moight be worth 3 times that price.  It’s not in any way intersting as cigars go, it’s just nice.  The flavor was mild but with a pleasant sweetness.  It just tasted like a nice cigar.

Made of book bound medium and long leaf filler in the Dominican, this cigar is quite remarkable for its value.  Find them, and enjoy!

The only caveat that I have is that I have smoked exactly one of these. Who knows about consistency?  But, at this price…

What’s really good is the Gordo size in the Dominican and also their Nicaraguans! I’ve had the corona, robusto and gordo. I personally like the Nics better. When I bought these locally (not at a B & M- I don’t think most would ever carry anything that inexpensive!) I got them for $1.69. A lot of cigar for the money, and not bad at all. I agree with your assessment; given the economy, these are good sticks for a lot of folks who have to smoke budget cigars.
