Miami Cigar and Company Announces La Merlion
La Sirena and La Aurora are teaming up to create a new cigar, La Merlion. Named after the mythical combination of mermaid and lion, this should be an interesting cigar.
The Merlion will be rolled at La Aurora Cigar Factory utilizing 6 different types of tobacco. The wrapper is a silky looking Ecuadorian Corojo, while the binder is Sumatra from Brazil. The filler, has 4 different types of tobacco including; Brazillian Bahia, Dominican Corojo, Dominican Criollo ’98, and Nicaraguan ligero to add that strength that you expect from a La Sirena cigar.
The cigar will come in three sizes, Robusto, 5 x 50, Toro, 5 1/2 x 54, and Gran Toro, 6 x 58. They are expected to ship in late June.
Cigars aren’t always Reviled
In most places the government is against cigars in most ways, unless, of course, they can collect a tax. But that’s is not he case everywhere. Fifteen years ago, Florida Governor Lawton Chiles created a day for a long time cigar maker headquartered in his state. May 10th is J.C. Newman Day in Florida. J.C. Newman is the maker of Diamond Crown, Diamond Crown MAXIMUS, Cuesta-Rey, La Unica, Brick House, El Baton, Quorum and Factory 59’s. Congratulations to J.C. Newman on their day.
