Cafe Excellent
It’s not often that we write about cigars that we don’t have much info about. But this is a little standout. It’s also not common for me to write about flavored cigars. Yet, this small cigar had people raving and I felt it would be nice to depart from our normal reviews and add something that people might be interested in.
This cigar, the M.J. Frias Cafe Espresso, presents itself modestly. It is a small cigar with an unimposing band. It’s natural wrapper is coffee colored, only appropriate for this stick. It lit easily and produced nice aromatic smoke.
This is a very well constructed cigar. It drew well, kept a sharp edge and an exceptionally long ash. It is unusual for many small cigars to hold an edge of any significant length. Yet, this puppy held for more than a third of its length.
As our attention turns to flavor, we are impressed. Often, cigars of this nature are harsh and burn hot, mostly because of their small size. This smoke was mellow and cool burning throughout. A pleasant espresso or coffee flavor permeated the stick without being cloying or overwhelming. It’s refreshing to find a cigar that gives you all of the flavor you want without bashing in your head. This is just the right balance of flavors.
This cigar was given to me by a manufacturer without mentioning price. When I went to do the research, I found that it was the house blend at a few different shops, but couldn’t find any pricing. Many cigars of this type sell for a few dollars. This cigar would be a great buy at anything less that $4 and a good buy at a higher price.
If you are looking for a nice flavored cigar, this is certainly one to add to the humidor.
