A Gorgeous Chocolate Candy – Joyo de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo

Joyo de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo PonderosoOver the years I have found cigar people at all levels to be extremely generous.  Whether it is a cigar smoker who opens his humidor to share a great find with a new smoker or old friend or a tobacconist who offers someone a cigar to try without charge, cigar lovers are very kind and open with their sticks.  Show that you appreciate the offering by passing along the favor and our great passion continues.  I have often said that if the worlds enemies gathered to talk over cigars there would be world peace.  So it is no surprise that Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate who distributes Joyo cigars here in the Untied States gave us at CigarMayven.com a bunch of Joyo de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo to share with our reviewers.  His graciousness is duly noted and to the first two people who email us we’ll pass along one of these great smokes.

When you first see the cigar you’ll notice the very dark wrapper.  This is a great looking cigar and that wrapper imparts loads of flavor.  Even with a hard pack, this cigar clipped easily and lit without problem.

This cigar is a full bodied or ‘dinner’ cigar without the bite that many heavy cigars are known for.  Yet, it is rich in flavor and very strong.  The strength comes from the ligero tobacco that comprises much of the filler.  This tobacco is most exposed to the sun being from the top of the plant.  I enjoyed a very choclatey taste filled with creaminess that kept on coming.  As I continued to smoke the flavors intensified and at one point I felt a rush from the strength of the smoke.  But, never any sharpness.  What a marvelous taste.  This stick reminded me of some great Cuban cigars of years past and I rate it highly.

Many strong cigars need work to keep them lit and burning evenly but this smoke was perfect.  It is extremely well constructed.

At $7.00, there is lots of value.  I would pay twice this price for something this good.  I can’t imagine any humidor without some thsese, even if you prefer milder cigars.  Give this a try and you may start smoking some fuller sticks.  The only thing that ook away for a great evening was my beloved Red Sox, who couldn’t make a 9th inning comeback.  I look forward to enjoying many more of these in the future.
