A Timeless Quality Cigar from Aging Room

Aging Room No 1Aging Room is a brand from Boutique Blends Cigars. Boutique had its early roots in flavored cigars but now focuses upon low volume, high quality cigars aimed at consumers who know what they want in a cigar. Early this year Aging Room launched extensions of its successful Bin No. 1 line. One extension was the addition of a box pressed 6 X 54 toro called D Major. The Bin No. 1 vitolas are all named after musical keys, partly due to the partner’s love of music.
I was given the D Major at the 2015 IPCPR to review. The D Major is box pressed and has aged Habano Dominican binder and filler wrapped by an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. D Major is sold individually in “coffins” with a limited run of only 1,600 boxes, each with 18 coffins. While this is expensive packaging, it does add to the overall presentation of the D Major.
The cigar was attractive and sports a high quality label that looks like an announcement from the 1890’s. The initial flavor was leather that soon gave way to cedar and spice. The draw and smoke volume were very good, as was the ash and burn line. The aftertaste was quite mild and I liked the D Major enough to smoke it down to my fingertips. It took an hour and 15 minutes to finish this full bodied cigar and I would not hesitate to have another. At $15, the SRP is a little high but the cigar is worth it for special occasions. I rate it a 4.5 out of 5.
