Bahia Insignias
Many of you already know Tony Borhani is back. He was exhibiting last year at the Tobacco show in Orlando with some great smokes. This on eis a tenth anniversary edition of the Insignias. It is available in three sizes and is quite nice.
When you first look at this deep brown cigar you are impressed. It looks great. A striking black band with gold letters telling you what you are smoking. The feel was very firm. The cigar was punched and lit without a problem.
The stick had a closed draw and needed to be relit. After a couple of lights it opened up but, you had to work for this stick. The edge was tight and and even medium grey long ash developed.
Flavor was good. There was a complex taste initially showing signs of cedar and nuts as well as apple and cherry. As the cigar smoked down the nuts remained and a spiciness came forward. This spiced nut flavor continued through the rest of the hour plus long cigar. There was a long aftertaste that was not harsh. Overall, I felt that this medium bodied or ‘lunch’ cigar was pleasant and not overpowering.
At $9.00 this is a little above what I’d like to pay for a cigar of value and as a result it doesn’t score as well in this area as you might like. Regardless, it is a nice cigar full of flavor, and deserving a place in the humidor.
