Cain Nub Habano

Nub HabanoThis is a go to cigar.  Whenever I am looking for  a small but powerful end to the evening this is what I reach for.  When you first take the cigar out of its cellophane, it has a fragrant almost floral aroma which belies the power it packs.  The wrapper is a medium shade of brown, smooth and silky.  Nub is available in 4 blends each with slightly different flavor profiles.  The Habano, along with the Maduro are the more full bodied of the line and I think of this as a dinner cigar.

I use a scissors to cut my torpedo and other odd shaped cigars and it worked just fine on this one.  Nub Habano half wayThe cigar lit easily with a nice rich earthy aroma and some spicy flavor.  As it burned a little bit, the flavors mellowed into a rich complex flavor.  It was heavy but not overly peppery.  I like to compare it to a very good whiskey that is full flavored but with a bitter after taste.

I am sure that I have smoked at least a dozen of these babies over the last six months and the construction has been nothing short of superb.  I have frequently smoked the entire cigar holding a single ash.  It burns evenly regardless of the conditions.  For this review, I was forced to smoke in the Jacuzzi.

As the cigar progressed the flavors continued to be full and rich.  While there is no sweetness, the consistency reminds me of lush hot chocolate.

At the 45 minute mark, I was out of cigar, and, not for the first time, thought about lighting another right away.  At around $6.00 this is a real bargain.  Even though it looks small, you’ll have just under an hour of smoking pleasure.
