Camacho Havana Diademas Lives Up to its Packaging
They say that good things come in small boxes. So what do you make of something that comes in an elaborate box? Often, it is a case of overblown hype. But here, with the Camacho Havana Diademas it is not. Rather, the cigar outshines its fanciful packaging.
Camacho cigars are the children of the Eiroa family. With a heritage in cigars and tobacco going back to the early 1900s in Cuba, the family has been in the business ever since.Company president Christian Eiroa has worked on the farms as well as in the business end and contributes his knowledge and history to making great cigars. Camacho cigars are made with tobacco grown and produced by the family. The cigars are Honduran puros grown in the fertile Jamastran valley.
This cigar, the Diademas, is a large cigar that is packaged with great flurish. It comes in an individual box. When you open the box you find a cigar wrapped in a multicolored foil paper sealed with a cigar band. You open that wrapper and you find the cigar, called by Camacho a Diademas, a Salomon shape enclosed in a tissue paper wrapper. Your treasure is finally found under the tissue paper.
Upon first look, the cigar is immense, with a light coffee color and a nice smooth feel. The cigar lit easily and drew well. The first few puffs gave me a light wood taste that quickly turned almond in flavor. The cigar is well constructed and through the entire smoke maintained a nice crisp edge. The ash was a striated dark and like masterpiece.
As I continued to smoke, and the cigar lasted almost 2 hours, the flavors changed. There was a sweetness and nuttiness that was subtle and not overpowering. I continually had a hint of vanilla that would surface and then submerge. It was as if the stick was teasing me first with one flavor and then another, only to have the first come back. This is a truly complex cigar.
The cigar retails for around $9.00. Usually, I would think that is alot of money for a cigar. But, with this stick you are getting lots of cigar. Not only is this two hours of pleasurable smoking, but also it is a very good cigar. This all adds up to loads of value for you.
I got the cigar at a trade show form the producer and I’m only sorry I don’t have more.
