Chapter 3 in Gloria Cubana’s Series
General Cigar’s La Gloria Cubana previously released Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 competing cigars. At the 2014 IPCPR La Gloria placed Chapters 3 and 4 into their own competition – Chapter 3 is made in the Dominican Republic and Chapter 4 in the Hondura – and we were provided with a sample of Chapter 3 to review.
Chapter 3 is an 8 X 52 dark Churchill size cigar with a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, bound by Ecuadorian binder and wrapper. The cigar did not have any soft or hard spots and sported an average smoke volume. The draw was much tougher than expected and the cigar had a very uneven burn, indicating a construction issue. The flavors were very weak throughout with a sweet under taste. The dominant flavor was oak with fruit and cocoa weaving in and out. The ash was fine and it took an hour and a half to smoke this medium to full bodied cigar.
The SRP is $9.50 and we consider this a little high considering the construction and weak flavors. We rate this a 2.5 out of 5.
