Cigar Accessory Holds Cigar and Improves Draw
It’s rare that we get a cigar accessory that we haven’t seen before. After all, there aren’t really many new ideas in ashtrays and cutters. But, at a recent trade show, Ben ran into something new. And, after staring at it for a while, he suggested that we take a closer look.
The Havana Saver serves a couple of different purposes. First, should you have a plugged cigar, it will help you open the draw. It does this because of its’ twisted pick. It’s sort of like a bar spoon, and if you insert it into a cigar that is plugged, you can gently twist and it will open the draw. So, of course I wanted to try this. And, I couldn’t find a cigar that was plugged. After a while I was complaining about a bad drawing cigar and my wife said ‘Didn’t you get something to fix that?” Who knew she paid attention. Well, you should. It works.
The second advertised purpose of the Havana Saver is to use it as a cigar holder when you play golf. Rather than dampen your stick by laying it in possibly wet grass, you pass the Havana Saver through your cigar cross-wise. Then you can put it into the ground, keeping it above the wet earth. I was skeptical that it would hurt the cigar, but it really didn’t. I use it frequently when I am smoking in the pool. I stay wet and the cigar stays dry, a perfect combination.
The manufacturers also suggest that you can prolong the enjoyment of your favorite stick by using the Havana Saver as a ‘handle’ if you will. You’ll be able to enjoy the last few puffs without burning your fingers. I’m sure that works, but I might just be too old to go bacvk to the days of ‘roach clips’.
All in all, at a retail price of less than $10, this is a nifty little gizmo. Every cigar mayven should have one.
