A Cigar from New Hampshire? 7-20-04 is a Real Find
As a longtime collector of cigar memorabilia, Kurt Kendall wanted to do something special. And when he had the opportunity to revive the long time union-made in New Hampshire brand, he did so. And this reprise is a great smoke. I had the opportunity to talk to the folks from Kendall at IPCPR and it was an interesting discussion. They took for granted that the cigar was great and chose to focus on the memorabilia. I’ll focus on the smoke.
At first inspection it is a very nice looking stick. The cedar wrapper covers an oily finish that has a pigtail top. It’s nice to look at, but you can’t wait to punch and light. I did that without a problem.
This cigar is very well made. It has a nice easy draw and burned cool. The edge was even and tight. And finally, the ash didn’t want to drop. It grew to impressive lengths.
Flavors varied. The cigar started with a leathery tinge and mellowed into a creamy middle third. As I continued to smoke a nice spicy flavor began and increased as I smoked towards the end without ever becoming overpowering. This is a typical flavor profile of Nicaraguan cigars. And, it is enjoyable. I would rate this as a medium bodied or ‘Lunch’ cigar.
At around $7.50, it’s a nicely priced cigar for the elegance that it delivers. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this stick.
