CLE Corojo – Another Great Corojo from Christian Eiroa

Christian Eiroa is a man with big ideas.  He was the driving force that made Comacho what it is today and having left that behind he has moved on to other things.  Bigger and better.  With an idea to entrepreneurship and giving small cigar makers a chance, Eiroa opened a cigar making consortium in Miami.  He has partnered with some people who wanted to make cigars by creating a factory.  He has given them support and encouragement and a creative incubator.   That is Tabacaleras Unidas.  A place where cigar makers can come to make their iconic cigars unded the tutelage and guidance of Eiroa.  He is also making his own cigars at this factory under the band of CLE, which are his initials, Christian Luis Eiroa.

When you first look at the cigar, it is a clean golden brown, very reminiscent of a Cuban stick.  And that feeling carries on with the understated band.  Very low key.  Focus all of the attention on the cigar and not on the hype.  The cigar punched and lit without problem.  There was a nice amount of smoke.

Construction was good.  The cigar had a nice easy draw and developed a good ash.  The ash was dark grey and held well.  The stick was a little uneven in the burn, but this didn’t detract from the smoke.

Flavors were interesting and complex.  What does that mean?  When I find a cigar where I taste a flavor change, I think of that as complex.  Many cigars have a nice simple flavor.  That start off creamy and remain creamy throughout.  Others change their tastes.  Like this beauty that Eiroa made in Honduras.  The first flavors that I got were toasty, caramel and a little nutty.  As the cigar progressed towards teh middle, it became drier with a cedar or leather taste.  That taste remained for the duration of the smoke.

This cigar sells for around $6, making it a good value.  Lots of flavor in a beautiful cigar gives this stick a place in any humidor.
