Cremo Classic – A Pleasant Smoke
What can you say about a cigar company that was one of the premier brands at the turn of the century? Well, if you’ve never heard of Cremo, you might ask , which century? And the answer to that would be the 20th century. This is a brand that was one of the top selling cigars in the Untied States in the early 1900s. There was a factory in New York and sales were very high. Over the years the brand disappeared from the market, only to return recently. And, it’s a nice return. The cigar is made in Miami at El Titan de Bronze one of the best rolling houses int he country. They are excellent in producing great cigars.
Our cigar today is the Cremo Classic in the Excelsior size. The cigar presents well. It is silky smooth and a beautiful golden brown. I punched and lit the stick without a problem.
The construction of the stick is good, and I would expect nothing less from these rollers. They are experienced and it shows in a cigar that burns evenly. The draw was open. Again, not a surprise. AT the factory they have a machine that tests the draw of each cigar. If it doesn’t pass, the stick is sent back to the roller. The ash on my cigar was unremarkable.
This is a mild or ‘breakfast’ cigar. At the beginning of the smoke it has a grassy taste that continues throughout. Towards the end, there is a cedar flavor that adds to the taste giving it a little interest. The cigar burned cool and had little after taste.
These sticks are in the $7 price range. I’ll let you be the judge of value. For me, I’d like a little more interest in the flavor. I don’t mind that it is a mild cigar, but want a more varied smoke. Perhaps, in this flavor profile that’s not possible. Regardless, this is a well made nice looking cigar that any mild smoker would enjoy.
