Cuban Stock Exquisito Libertado Again
Back in November 2013 my compatriot reviewed the Exquisito Limitado by Cuban Stock and awarded it an overall score of 4.0. I recently tested the same cigar from Cuban Stock and we decided that another review could be interesting.
Cuban Stock is actually Crown David Inc. doing business as Cuban Stock and the company was founded by Yaniv Levy back in 1995. As explained to me by Yaniv at the 2013 IPCPR, his tobacco is grown from Cuban seeds, fermented using traditional Cuban techniques and his cigars are capped Cuban style so the name Cuban Stock came naturally to him even though his factory is in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
I smoked the Cuban Stock Exquisito Limitado belicoso, an irregularly shaped 6 X 60. The construction of the Limitado was firm but not overly so. In appearance, the cigar has a dark, oily sheen that I found attractive. Pre-aroma was of earth and coffee. The cigar light fairly well and the coffee flavor was balanced with cedar, leather and some sweetness. The smoke volume was fair with and open draw and moderate ash. The strength of the cigar was medium at first but half way through it was apparent that this is a full bodied cigar.
I rate this cigar a 3.5 overall, slightly below the previous 4.0 rating, perhaps because I prefer medium to light bodied cigars. At $7 or so, this cigar is still a value for those looking for a well-priced premium full bodied cigar.
