Dignity Rose Gold

Dignity Rose GoldI travel to cigar events all the time.  Mostly, I spend the time visiting with smokers and learning about their favorites.  It gives me an opportunity to get a pulse on what is going on in the industry and to see trends in the making.  Rarely, I will have the pleasure of meeting a new cigar producer who has a nice line of sticks.  This past month in Las Vegas I attended the Tobacco Plus Expo.  This is a show mostly for the convenience stores and other larger volume tobacco merchants.  A few premium cigar people exhibit with their smaller, regional, booths.  At this show, I had the opportunity to talk to some old friends and to catch up with some regular companies.  There were also a few new producers showing their cigars.  One of those companies was Dignity Cigars.  These guys make a Costa Rican puro, and do a nice job of it.  They have a few different blends and about 4 or 5 vitolas in each.  At the show I got a Rose Gold blend and I’m hoping to have some of the other blends t o review in the near future.

This cigar presented well.  It is a nice medium brown parejo, with a nicely done cap.  The wrapper leaf was not veiny but a had a small blemish on the back of the stick.  It punched easily and lit without a problem.  It produced nice, dark, aromatic smoke.

I thought the construction was good.  It had an open draw and produced a very dark ash.  The ash developed well, holding a tight and long edge.  It burned evenly and without problem for the entier hour plus of the smoke.

Flavors are fine.  It starts out with a coffee and cream taste which doesn’t change much until the last third of the stick when some spice or nutmeg is introduced.  That hint of spice makes me rate this as a ‘lunch’ cigar but if you wanted to call it mild, I wouldn’t argue.  At one point I thought that it would be an easy cigar to forget you had going, but it is a nice long smoke for a beginning smoker.

At around $7.50 for over an hour of smoke, it’s not a bad value.  If you like a nice mellow and mild smoke, you’ll find the Dignity Rose Gold a nice cigar.
