Nat Cicco has a Cuban Sandwich Legend!
Outside the cigar industry Cuban sandwiches have ham, pork, cheese and other ingredients for a tasty lunch. But Cuban sandwich cigars refer to the use long and short fillers together, sometimes with the long filler “sandwiching” the short filler in between. Nat Cicco’s Cuban Legend cigars use this construction approach for their Habano special edition Cuban Legend which contains Nicaraguan fillers and binder with an Habano wrapper. Zander-Gregg in California owns Nat Cicco and they provided me with a sample of the Cuban Legend special edition Habano.
This toro was 6 X 50 with a dark color, soft to the touch at the foot and firm at the cap. The draw was exceptionally easy and the flavors were cedar with a little pepper aftertaste. The cigar was on the low end of medium in strength with a very good ash and smoke volume. Occasionally the wrapper flaked a bit during the burn and littered my smoking lanai but I still smoked it down to my fingertips. Aside from the flaking, the Habano Legend was a pleasure to smoke (50 minutes) and the price I found on line (about $2.80 each for a bundle of 20) makes this cigar a very good value – I expected a price in the $5 range. For low cost smokers still looking for reasonable quality, I rate it a 4.0 out of 5.
