A Visit to Torano Cigars
An interesting week that included a trip to Miami and a visit to a cigar maker. On Thursday I had the opportunity to share a nice smoke with Jack Torano, the marketing director at Torano Cigars. It was my first Torano Vault (expect a review later this week) and we chatted about his family history. The cigar blood runs deep and after Carlos Torano, Sr. began marketing the brand many years ago many family members are now involved. it was nice to meet some of them.
As we toured their facility, I was allowed a peek at some soon to be released cigars. I was asked not to share some of what I saw but let’s just say if you are a fan of the larger sizes, particulalry the very popular 6 x 60 size, Torano will have something that you might like even more soon. Torano also distributes the Graycliff line. I saw in the humidor a box of 2 double churchills. They’re an amazing 52 x 14″ or so and have a shaggy foot. Jack was telling me that these go for about $100 for the box of 2. Wow!
General Cigar News
General Cigar has announced that the Punch Rare Corojo will once again be available to consumers sometime later this spring.
CigarMayven Miami
For the past couple of months whenever I have business in Miami, I find a little extra time to visit the cigar manufacturers. Each of these visits has been a treat. They are usually about an hour and the opportunity to learn about the cigars and their producers as well as get the inside news on what is to come. There is also some good cigar smoking involved. Why do I tell you this? Well, frankly, to make you jealous. But then that wouldn’t be fair. So, as a heads up, we are looking for a date this fall when we will have an event called CigarMayven Miami where you will have the opportunity to join others on a guided tour and visit to several of the Miami based cigar producers. Details and dates for the vent are still a ways off, but start thinking about your plans to attend this fun event.
