The Stogie Review has a review of a green cigar in time for St. Patricks Day.  The review is La Flor Dominicana Double Claro 42 and it turns out well.  To be hones the cigars look like the old machine made sticks that my father used to by in a box of 5 when I was a kid.  But, this seems like a serious cigar.

Cigar Obsession has a review of a relatively unknown brand, Blue Mountain Cigars.  The review focuses on a barberpole torpedo.

Happy 86th Avo

Ever since his 75th birthday, a cigar is released to celebrate the  birth of musician and cigar impresario Avo Uvezian.  The cigar, called ‘La Trupeta’ features a wrapper with three circular cutouts below the band to remind you of the valves on his trumpet.  If this stick is like any of the others, it’ll be wonderful.

Musings from 30,000 Feet

Last Thursday night I was flying from Atlanta to Phoenix.  The plane was late and it was late.  The flight became interminably long and I wondered what would make it pass more easily.  I quickly decided that a nice cigar would take the edge off.  Unfortunately I didn’t have a parachute and was concerned that the airlines response to my relaxing smoke was to throw me overboard!  I’ll make up for that tonight, as I Toast Ben’s 70th birthday with a Montecristo No. 2.

CigarMayven Miami

For the past couple of months whenever I have business in Miami, I find a little extra time to visit the cigar manufacturers.  Each of these visits has been a treat.  They are usually about an hour and the opportunity to learn about the cigars and their producers as well as get the inside news on what is to come.  There is also some good cigar smoking involved.  Why do I tell you this?  Well, frankly, to make you jealous.  But then that wouldn’t be fair.  So, as a heads up, we are looking for a date this fall when we will have an event called CigarMayven Miami where you will have the opportunity to join others on a guided tour and visit to several of the Miami based cigar producers.  Details and dates for the vent are still a ways off, but start thinking about your plans to attend this fun event.
