Partagas 1845
I can’t remember why I haven’t smoked a Partagas in such a long time, but I know why I won’t be going back soon. Partagas, made by General Cigar has many lines, and I recently reviewed a Benji Menendez that was a very nice smoke. This black was disappointing.
When you first look at the cigar, it presents a nice profile with a rick almost black wrapper that it very oily. This particular stick was veiny and looked flawed at the cap. It clipped well, and drew without a problem.
The flavor of this cigar should be complex as the wrapper is made with a complex fermentation process, the binder an excellent sungrown La Vega Especial Domincan, and the filler Nicaraguan ligero. Unfortunately, I got a one note spicy smoke with not discernible changes except that it got spicier as it smoked.
I was reading while smoking and the cigar burned unevenly going out repeatedly. This is evidence of a cigar that I should never have been given. Why let an inferior product into the market. I can only hope that this was fluke. I’ll definitely try another, if only to be fair.
The price of this stick is reasonable as long as it smokes and show better with the next cigar.
