Partagas 1845 Something New from an Old Line

Partagas 1845The Partagas line of cigars has been around forever, or at least 100 years, whichever is longer.  And rarely have they added anything to the line.  But this addition is definitely worthwhile.

When you first look at this cigar you’ll notice the beautiful veiny wrapper and great medium brown color.  Of course, you’ll also notice the funny band.  Well, it looks normal, until you take a closer peek and then see that it’s sideways.  The cigar clipped easily and lit without problem producing nice smoke.

The flavor of this stick is nice.  It has some spice but is not overpowering.  As I continued to smoke I was getting some nutmeg and cocoa flavor as well.  While most consider Partagas to be a full bodied cigar, I think of this as a heavier ‘lunch’ or medium cigar.  I liked the taste and am looking forward to another of these sometime soon.

The construction of this cigar was disappointing.  While the draw was fine, it did not burn evenly and despite my efforts I couldn’t correct that.  Still, I was able to smoke the entire cigar.

This stick is in the sweet price zone at less than $5.00.  I think that as long as a cigar tastes good and is fairly well made, it will be worth  a try if it is in this price range.

Overall, I like this cigar and will be smoking more in the future.
