Put a Torano Brick into Your Humidor!
Torano Family Cigars has their Brick cigar as a value offering. In 2014 Torano made a few minor changes and markets the Brick in 2 sizes, a 6 X 60 Robusto and a 7 X 56 Churchill. The Brick has a filler blend from Nicaragua and Honduras with a Honduran binder and Ecuadorian Sumatra seed wrapper. The 2014 Brick version is a remake of an older Torano standby stick. I was given a 6 X 60 Brick at the 2014 IPCPR to review.
The Brick was slightly squishy but firm enough for a box press with more of a rectangular foot than square finish. The band is at the foot where the softer end is protected. For its size, the Brick is attractive enough with no obvious blemishes. The draw was very good for this cigar and the smoke volume is well above average. The first taste was peppery but that soon mellowed out to wood and coffee. The first half of the cigar is surprisingly mild but it developed into a stronger, medium body by the half. The flavor did not vary. Unfortunately, bitterness appeared near the end although there was an under taste of cocoa. The ash was average and the burn not quite even.
I spent an hour and 10 minutes smoking the Brick. It has an SRP of $4.95 and comes in a 100 count tray. That is a lot of smoking for the price and represents a good value for an “everyday” smoke even though the flavor and construction reveal it as a lower priced entry. I rate the Brick a 3.5 out of 5.
