Tony Borhani Returns – Bahia Gold
Tony Borhani was in the cigar industry some years ago. He made a line of cigars that became very popular during the cigar boom in the late 90s. A few years ago, he disappeared from the scene. Now, he is back. And the cigars make it a worthwhile return.
When I first looked at my stick, it was dark, rustic and very veiny. I was concerned that the cap was poorly fit, but, ultimately, this din’t detract from the smoking experience. The cigar punched ant lit without trouble. It produced a nice amount of medium aroma smoke.
The draw on the cigar was open and it held an even edge. Despite a high wind where I was the stick did not have to be relit although it was difficult to hold an ash. The cigar burned cooly and well.
This is a mild cigar with some sweetness. I didn’t think the taste changed much during the entire smoke and was rather boring. To be fair, I prefer much stronger cigars that this. I will say that the taste was balanced. While this made it a nice smoke that I would recommend to anyone who likes mild or ‘breakfast’ cigars, it made it hard to distinguish any particular flavors.
When you find this stick it will list at between $7 and $8. That makes it a little above what we would look for in value at this size. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find these at a lower price. When you do, if you like mild cigars, snap these up.
