Torano Signature, A Worth Autograph
Truth be told I like Torano cigars. Long before I started writing reviews I was buying the Exodus 1959 by the box and recommending them to friends. Almost always with great results. So, it was a pleasure a month or so ago to spend the afternoon in Miami smoking and sharing stories with Jack Torano. Know that I favored the torpedo shape he gave several cigars fromt he different blends that they make in that size.
Tonight’s smoke is the Carlos Torano Signature line. When you first look at it you are impressed with a nice oily maduro dark wrapper which comes form Brazil This wrapper brings a sweetness to the flavor that adds a complexity and takes the edge off an otherwise strong blend. My cigar lit well and burned evenly showing its excellent contruction. It held a nice edge and a long dark gray ash.
This is a strong cigar with lots of spice. The sweetness tempers the spice but I found the peppery tone to be predominant. It finally mellowed about halfway down making the last half of the smoke much more enjoyable with a chocolate and nutty flavor.
At just less than $9.00 this is one of the more expensive offerings from Torano. It’s is a nice cigar for after a heavy meal where you are celebrating or enjoying the company of good friends. I would have enjoyed it more if the Red Sox were doing better since I was smoking as I watched the game.
