Who Needs Another Room When You Have Room 101
In the over 40 years that I have been smoking, I don’t think that I have had more than a handful of cigars made by Comacho. I’m not sure why, because I have certianly enjoyed every smoke. So it was a pleasure to find that tonight’s stick was a Room 101 by Comacho.
The first thing that you notice about this cigar is that it is not a straight sided stick. It bulges in the middle. This makes for an interesting smoke and I notice a distinct flavor change as the cigar moved through the larger portion. The cigar cut well and lit easily. It produced nice smoke and no harsh flavor when first lit.
A well made cigar will always burn evenly and hold a nice long ash. A full two inches into the stick I couldn’t take the pressure and gently dropped the dark gray ash from the cigar. The cigar draw well for the entire smoke and I wish it took longer as I was enjoying the cigar.
This cigar is a medium bodied smoke. It started off with lots of creamy flavor tinged with a mocha taste. As I got to the wider middle portion of the cigar I noticed a little bit of pepper, but not to overpower the mellow flavor of the cream. A bit of cedar and leather finished the cigar at around the one hour mark.
When you pay around $8 for a cigar you expect a lot. And this stick delivers. Room 101 is positioned as a ’boutique’ smoke and provides an interesting flavor profile that almost everyone will enjoy. If you like mild cigars the creaminess will appeal to you. If you like stronger cigars the hint of complexity will entice you. All in all this is an excellent cigar.
